After a four year gap since their last full-length studio album, Strangeland sees East Sussex band Keane return to original territory. The addition of permanent bassist and guitarist Jesse Quin hasn’t shifted Keane’s style and, if anything, the piano and synths that make up the soundworld of Strangeland
hark back to the days of their first album, “Hopes and Fears.” Rather predictably, this return to their roots has attracted a fair amount of criticism for “not trying something new” but after the embarrassment of their experimental EP Night Train
, a move which had them incorporating rap and Hip Hop, fans should be relieved that they’ve stopped trying something new and are firmly back on the right track.
The global fascination with One Direction is just another one of those unexplainable things — kinda like the Bermuda Triangle, Area 51, and man’s obsession with Pippa Middleton.
But love them or not, One Direction have revitalised the dying concept of the “boyband” and, if you’re a fan of the floppy-haired five, you’ll be pleased with this FREE acoustic download of “One Thing” (taken from their album Up All Night) which is available RIGHT HERE.
Now for those you who prefer a different direction (because there isn’t just one), I have some free downloads from a bunch of rising artists courtesy of Flavorwire and Amazon. Check out the goody bag and don’t say I don’t give you anything:
Swiss Jeweler Mohamed Shawesh has created a 150 carat ring, forged out of a single faceted diamond. Theoretically, he’s created the world’s FIRST diamond ring, and boy is it a sparkler with a blinding price tag of $70million. I do!
Christmas is only 278 days away. Ok, so it may seem a mere dot on the horizon, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start compiling our “Dear Santa” wish-lists right now. In fact, I encourage you to do so, since it will give your friends and family plenty of time to save up for your wants and demands. And believe me, if your wish-list includes any of these awesomely geeky gadgets (that are totally NOT for kids), they’ll appreciate the heads up. . .
